1970 GMC Sierra Grande Custom

'71 GMC Sierra Grand Custom
Very clean and classy.  Dog n Suds is an old fast food burger joint back east, popular Cruise spot back in the day.  I imagine this truck pulling out of there soon after coming off the assembly line.  Great truck!

1971 Chevy C10 "Custom 71 TPI"

'71 Chevy Fleetside Longbed
This was a challenging piece but a very fun one!  This truck has so many specific custom touches and I needed to be sure to get them all, no doubt about it though, it belongs to the man who built it!

1968 Mustang GT Fastback

'68 Mustang GT
This is yet another Mustang, my favorite year actually!  My Dad had one of these (not a fastback) what I was younger, and I felt so cool cruising around in it with him.  This piece is probably my new favorite.  Dang it looks cool!

New Stuff on the "Ames Photography" page!

David's 1937 Chevy Coup
A good friend of mine recently allowed me to shoot some of his car collection.  I am incredible jealous of the rare and amazing cars he has collected over the years.  Some may see the rust, but I see the potential.
Check out a few of the other photos from the collection on my "Ames Photography" page on the right!

Mustang Mach 1 Superman

Superman Mustang Mach 1
My first Mustang!  I've been wanting to branch out and start getting my name into the Mustang loving crowd.  Mustang fans might be even more intense than the Camaro fans...  This client waited very patiently and I'm pleased to finish the piece for her husband's man cave.  Any Mustang fans out there, get your orders in to me!

1979 1980 Camaro Z28 Resurrected

This was my first drawing of the car, still very cool.
'79 Camaro Z28
This is my brother's killer jet black '79 Camaro.  Notice the '80 upper and lower grille, and rear wheel spoiler to smooth out the look of the car.  I basically completely redid the paint work on this piece.  My new techniques are looking pretty good I think.  It's fun to look back and see the progression of my work.

2010 Camaro SS Inferno Red

2010 Chevy Camaro SS Inferno Red
Whew, just spent a great deal of the last couple weeks working on this piece for a very patient client that I met at the Boise "All Camaro Show" back in May.  Honestly I can't stop staring at it!

For Sale: 1967 Chevy C10 Shortbed Stepside

It's a sad day, and I don't want to sell Ol Squeaky Dean, but I really would like to get my 1950 Fleetline on it's way.  So to all my viewers out there, tell your friends, family and fellow car nuts that this rare truck is up for grabs.  I've put a nice Chevy 350 TBI fuel injected motor, and a Camaro 700r4 rebuilt with all the Corvette innards in it.  For a very detailed description see me add on Utah's KSL classifieds: 1967 Chevy for sale.
Thanks for looking!

1967 Camaro RS

'67 Camaro Rally Sport
Tom's pearl white beauty has been in the works for a while now, and I'm proud to finally have it completed! This is for a Client I met in Boise at the "All Camaro" show back in the spring.  I'm digging the new style.

1953 Buick Special Riviera Model 45R

1953 Buick Special Riviera  Model 45R
Just Finished this for a client.  I think this is the best one I've done so far.  I hope they like it!  I learned a lot about the Buicks of the early 50's, I also noticed where the many styling Qs that the new Buick's have got their beauty.  This is a beauty, and FULL of details!

U.S. Air Force Nascar 2011 Ford Fusion

Air Force Race Car
I just finished this piece for a returning client who's son is soon to be graduating from the Air Force Academy.  I had a lot of fun working on this one, and I'm pretty happy with it.  Hope there's some NASCAR fans out there who like it as well!

Do You Remember? 9/11 Tribute 1937 Ford

Poem By Rick Ames
Patriotism is something that is fading the more "Politically Correct" things are becoming. My Father is a great example of a great American Patriot.  Never afraid to fly the Flag in respect.  This is his contribution, along with mine to help nurse this country back to greatness, and honor.  9/11 was meant to weaken America, let us unite even stronger as the years go by and never forget to love our neighbors.  Let's show the world that we will never "shrink like the Towers did."

Chris Hickman's 1973 Plymouth Duster

1973 Duster
I met Chris Hickman a few weeks ago at the local Cruise Night here is town.  He has been featured in many popular car magazines for his artwork, and even for his car builds (Car Craft Magazine).  He struck a deal with me that we would draw each other's cars.  He beat me to the punch and finished my '50 Fleetline Deluxe drawing first.  I'll post his drawing soon. It's way better than what I do here, but he's too nice to admit it.  Enjoy Chris!

The Summer Semester

Teaser:
See the whole Drawing and more on the New Old School Page -->
I had to take a few months off of my full time custom car Rendering business and focus on my summer semester of school.  I'm hopefully 2-3 more semesters away from total freedom!  Check out the work I did in school for the past few months, click here.

1972 Chevy C10 Shortbed Fleetside

'72 C10 SWB Fleetside
It's a rainy day here, so I've been stuck inside.  Here's another sweet drawing for the day!  The owner of this custom truck has dropped an LS1 Corvette motor in this '72.  I am jealous.  I like the trim, and bumpers.  It keeps it looking classy.

1967 Chevelle SS - I'm Back in Action!!!

1967 Chevy Chevelle
Did this for my most patient client, Nick Sebastian who resides in Canada!  Nick has waited the longest out of all my clients, and for that I feel terrible.  Nick's candy coated, and tubbed '67 is freakin' awesome in the pictures he sent me, so I wanted to give it the time it deserved in my rendering.

I'll be working hard to fill the rest of the orders placed a few months ago.  Thanks everyone for your patients with me, I'll make it worth your while!

Rockabilly - Maya 3D Model

He has a 5 o'clock Shadow, but it's hard to see in this pic.

I spent probably around 60ish hours on this guy.  Too long for my liking.  This model has a realistic skin texture I created.  I modeled him after a little sculpted shifter knob I bought at the SEMA 2010 Fine art show.    I'll find a link to the guy's site who sells these shift knobs.  Anyways, here's the result of about 3 weeks work, and a few all nighters.

SEMA is My Mecca!

This is a big week for me, I was just informed that I received a hefty scholarship from the SEMA scholarship program!  For those of you who don't know what SEMA is you probably don't know what a car is, and therefor must have stumbled upon my site my mistake.  Just kidding. What does SEMA stand for? The acronym SEMA stands for Specialty Equipment Market Association.  Basically it's the largest automotive aftermarket show in the world, and it's held in Las Vegas every year.  They showcase everything that can be put on or in a car to make it custom.  It is seriously my Mecca so to speak.

Me and Chip Foose- 3 Hours of waiting in line to meet him!
My signed pic from the top pic got stolen later that day, so I tracked Chip down the next day!

Me an Arlen Ness- world Famous Bike Builder
These are a couple of my Idols and inspirations, Chip Foose, and Arlen Ness.  I met them at the 2010 SEMA show.  I waited for hours just to meet Chip, I drew him a little sketch of my '67 Chevy pickup, he love it.   I was roaming around and saw Arlen Ness and had to bother him for a pic as well.  Arlen has been on many bike building shows.  I plan on attending SEMA this coming Fall!

Shovel Rod by Sam Ames
This semester I'm learning Maya, it is very intensive, but fun.  This is my latest piece, I drew this a few months ago, and have it posted.  This is an original design.  Enjoy!

1969 Camaro Z28

1969 Camaro
I did this specifically for the All Camaro car show in Boise this past weekend.  Good thing I did, it brought in some new clientele, and we sold a 20x30 poster of it!  The show went great, Ames Flames and Customs was well received and we were invited to another huge car show coming up in July.   Business is booming, but school is making it hard to keep up!

3d Jet Pack- Megamind

Many hours and  sleepless nights went into this model!  The assignment was to model a movie prop that doesn't actually exist in the movie.  So I chose the Movie Megamind, and did my best to make it look as if it would exist in the movie.  Comments are welcome!

New Camaro Wheel - Sam Ames

I am taking a 3D modeling class, it is one of the hardest mediums I have ever attempted.
I modeled this Camaro wheel from a remote control Camaro that I own.  The toy is made by Jada Toys.

2000 C5 Corvette Millennium Yellow LS6 Roadster!

2000 Corvette C5 Roadster

The Corvette is an American icon, every American's dream car.  My client, Dwayne has upgraded the Motor, exhaust, and wheels and tires on his rare beauty of a roadster.  His request was to have it done in a similar style to my Camaro Concept drawing I did in December.  This style is awesome, and very fun to do!

1992 Camaro Zombie Apocalypse FINISHED!

1992 Camaro Z28
Did this for a guy who loves Zombies.  This will be a fun one to have on my wall come Halloween!  If anyone wants an epic piece like this, have a decent budget in mind, they take a while to draw and paint.

1992 Camaro Zombie Apocalypse!!!

3rd Gen Camaro Vs. Mullet Zombie
This is a sketch of the project I'm working on for a righteous Camaro loving dude, Scott Rayman!  I've lost sleep thinking about this piece, how awesome it will be, and I am pumped to get it done!  "If Zombies prefer brains, a convertible is not the best choice of hot rods to drive...Unless you're a Zombie hunter, then convertibles are ideal."  Stay tuned!

Samborghini Concept - Electric Supercar Concept

Samborghini- Electric Supercar Concept
I got my new Wacom Intuos4 Large Tablet today, so I just started drawing!  This looks a little like a Lamborghini, one of my favorite Car manufacturers.  I was also watching "Top Gear" today (great show) and they were testing the Tesla Motors Electric car.  Top Gear also did a segment on the Honda FCX Clarity, "the future of the automobile."  I agree, the Hydrogen Electric car is what will save the automobile industry.  Tesla makes the most stylish EV out there, but it's still not amazing, so I did one of my own, and dubbed it the Ames Flames & Customs Samborghini!

2010 Camaro SS with Rally Stripes

2010 Camaro SS
This custom Camaro is owned by Julio Cruz, he found me through Camaro5.com.  I really like the matte black rims, smoked tail lights, and factory Rally stripes.  I think I'll be hanging a poster of this one up in my studio.

2007 Harley Davidson FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic

2007 Harley Davison FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic
This project was by far the hardest one to complete.  It tested me mentally, physically and had me questioning if this type of work is really what I want to be doing.  But now that it's done, it is one of the coolest, most detailed pieces I have have ever had the honor of completing! It was overall a challenging but very fun piece that I learned a ton from!  Plus I got my new iMac and finished the Harley using it, so the learning curve from PC to Mac, and Photoshop CS3 to CS5 had a little to do with the frustration...

Transformers Bumblebee Old and New - 1977 Camaro, and 2010 Camaro

New Camaro Rendering
Double Bumbebee

Here it is, both Bumblebee Camaro's face to face!  There's a lot to look at with both generations of robot there and all, so if anyone want's a version without the Robots, that's do-able!  This was a fun piece.

2010 Camaro Bumblee Edition - Transformers

Bumblebee Camaro

Newer painting, same idea!

I don't know what to say about this one, it's too cool to talk about...just stare....   I did this for a fellow Camaro/Transformers fan, Marty-MJ.  His actual car has a 575 horse power Engine, Soon to be 750 HP! I just got drool on the keyboard.  Prints of this one are available to anyone else interested in owning this Killer custom piece for the garage, or Bumblebee loving kid!  I'll also be doing a special edition poster featuring the old 1977 Bumblebee Camaro facing this 2010 Camaro.  Stay Tuned!

1971 Chevelle SS

1971 Chevelle 502 SS
I LOVE CHEVELLES!  They are just pure muscle, and this thing shows that for sure!  I have been doing all kinds of styles and views lately, and i've gotta say, the side view is just classic!  This was done for a new client, Phil Dore.  I wasn't sure which style he wanted, so I did this in an inbetween cartoony and realistic style. Hope you like it Phil!

1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am - "Smokey and the Bandit Edition"

'77 Trans Am - Smokey and the Bandit
I've Always loved this car, so I decided to really pay tribute to it but pulling out all the stops when it came to painting techniques, perspective, and overall quality.  This was done for Shawn Mann, It's got a 6.3L Stroker under the hood with larger Year One Snowflake Rims.  I'm putting this thing on my "To Own Someday" list.

1979 Pro Street Camaro Z28!

'79 Camaro VS. '79 Mustang
Paul Week's Drag Camaro Z28!  If anyone is wondering why I havn't posted anything new in like a week, here's why!  It took much longer than my usual pieces.  But it was well worth it!  My Dad had this idea of a Camaro just ripping the pavement out, and going so fast that the paint is flying off, awesome idea Dad!  Seriously, who would want a '79 Mustang when the Camaro's styling is so much better, sleek, and muscular?

1971 Chevelle, 1978 Camaro Z28, 1973 Charger Tripple Threat!

'71 Chevelle, '78 Camaro, '73 Charger
I'm working on these for one of my most loyal clients, Bill Frederick.  Here is the what the 3 different rotations came out as.  These will be some great custom shirts for these car guys as they take their Muscle cars to car shows wearing thier "Muscle shirts!"

1979 Camaro Z28 Mirage

1979 Camaro Z28

I've had this idea in my head for a while and I know my fans are getting restless for something other than a side view. I intentionally made the paint become non existant as if it's still being drawn, going so fast it's coming off, or as if the car is a mirage.  Camaro guys might notice the '80, 81 grill with the '79 fender vent.  I know the backroung needs work, I just did it quickly so I can get on to more client cars!  Overall I'm diggin this one.  This car also goes along with my slogan, "I Turn Dreams Into Real Things."

2010 Camaro SS

2010 Camaro SS
2010 Chevy Camaro SS.  Did this bad-boy for Mike Kilmer, his other 3 Camaros I drew are on my Camaro Client page (link is on your right.)  I think this tops the charts as my best one yet!  I can't stop looking at it! Note the 1969 Camaro SS emblems.

1957 Chevy Bel Air Skull

'57 Ames Flames Skull Logo
I had this idea yesterday, and just needed to draw it.  It's a cool concept I think, and it would look sweet on a shirt!  I considered doing a black paint job, with orange and yellow flames, but I think it would have been too busy looking.  Notice the '57 wheel well, that's one of my favorite parts of this painting.  Feedback is welcome!
