< Not Exactly my taste in color, but it was part of the assignment...I seem to get more views on this picture than anything else, and I'm wonding how people find it.  If you're reading this, let me know how you came to view this old and quite terrible drawing I did.  Thanks!

Introducing: Sam Ames

For as long as I can remember I have been drawing, building, and creating what is in my mind. I Grew up in a wonderful family with two older brothers, and two younger sisters. My parents moved me and my siblings from Colorado when I was three years of age to Sheridan Wyoming where we lived about seven miles out of town. There I was free to be what every little boy should be, and I did what traditional boys did: caught frogs, played in a tree house, explored the countryside, and rode my red wagon down steep hills ending up with scrapes on my knees and elbows ready for more! Not to mention hours of playing tackle football with my older brothers, and the neighbor kids whom were all twice my size.

My parents supplied me with Lego's and Lincoln Logs, crayons and scissors and paper to make create anything I wanted. I loved taking things apart to see how they worked, and instead of putting it back together, I would attempt to build something of my own, and make it better than it was before. (rarely if ever did I ever make it better)

At the age of 8 years, 11 and 3/4 months we moved from Wyoming back to Colorado to start a new life in a town called Loveland. The move was hard for me. I had to leave behind the many friends I grew up with, the river I fished, ice skated, and skinny dipped in, and go to a foreign land with nothing and nobody familiar. I slowly adjusted however, and eventually became master of my elements, finding new ways to be creative, and new friends to make my RADiculous movies with, be in bands, and work on cars with. I can say I did just about everything as a young man: extreme sports, Roller blading lead to roller hockey, skateboarding lead to surfing, then to snow boarding, BMX riding lead to breaking my leg. I had a few bands, my first band was called "The Bandals," then, "Battalyn," then, "The Geeks." Bob Hoffman and I did a lot of acoustic stuff, and played at most all the school events we could.

In high school I did what I thought was cool with no regard to what the other kids thought. I somehow was elected to be involved in homecoming royalty, and I later got involved in the student council at Loveland High School. There I was able to develop my skills at making posters, banners, fliers, event tickets, murals, decorations for dances, and just about everything else you can imagine! I played football as a running back, and Linebacker for the Legendary Coach Poovey who lead us to become the 4A State champs in my senior year 2003 season. I ran track as well, but it was mostly just fun to hang out, and grow Mullets with my friends.

Now onto the Art side of my life, which is why I am making this website. I have loved cars my whole life, and still remember drawing trucks with huge tires, missile launchers, flames coming out the tailpipes, and engines higher than the windshield! I have been blessed with the ability to draw whatever I can see in my head. Or in other words, a photographic memory which enables me to memorize an object in my mind, and later be able to draw in out on paper in detail. I have a deep respect for people who can sit and paint a scene of a forest with mountains, and nature. I can do that to an extent, but my passion lies in designing things, new things, better things!

While serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Singapore and Malaysia, I gained so much perspective into what the world has to offer, other cultures, and peoples. I experiences to many new things, and had my eyes opened to so many new things! I feel I those two years on the other side of the world sculpted me into the person I was intended to become.

I feel I am well rounded in my ability to portray art. I can sculpt, fabricate and weld, paint by hand, paint by gun, draw with pen, pencil, marker, pretty much anything that leaves a mark! I am developing my ability to do work digitally now, and enjoy the new world the computer has opened up to my creativity!

In this Blog, I hope to somewhat showcase some of my favorite pieces of art and create a digital portfolio accessible to the world for their enjoyment. Please, if you like what I have done, do not steal, or copy what I have worked so hard to create.
